“After I opened my office in Hitchin, Ryan was very helpful. The model they have created to open a franchise is really good. They will always come and help you recruit, even after that if you are struggling they will always come to the office to help out. I like the model because I can manage my life around my family and the office. It gave me the opportunity to meet great people,” said Sarb Singh, Hitchin franchisee.
How in demand is Tezlom’s services?
In 2016-17, the annual turnover of all care staff was almost 28 per cent. The proportion of vacancies in care rose from 5.5 per cent in 2012-13 to a peak of 7 per cent in 2015-16. Two roles in particular – care workers and registered nurses – have a high vacancy and turnover rates compared to other roles within social care. The vacancy rate for nurses more than doubled between 2012-13 and 2016-17 to 9 per cent, despite the overall number of jobs falling from 51,000 to 43,000.
The Department of Health & Social Care commissioned modelling based on 2014 data and suggested the number of full-time equivalent jobs in care would need to increase by almost 3 per cent per year until 2035 to meet increased demand.
High vacancy rates and staff turnover can disrupt the continuity and therefore, the quality of care for service users. This means regular recruitment and induction costs are incurred, so it perhaps makes economical sense to engage a professional healthcare recruitment agency to help fill those positions with immediately available and qualified staff.
Many nurses and carers choose not to have permanent jobs due to childcare and other family commitments and the flexible arrangement as an agency worker suits their needs better. They dictate when they are available and Tezlom match assignments to meet their requirements.
