About The Creation Station

The Creation Station was founded by Sarah Cressall in 2002 who had, as part of her career, seen the benefits of creative activities when working with those with disabilities and head injuries. When she became a mum, Sarah recognised that there were very few activities that nurtured a child’s imagination and creativity.

In addition to her own experiences – work and becoming the mother of three – the founder of The Creation Station drew inspiration from her clients, franchisees, and the work and theory of reputable and successful educationalists such as Maria Montessori and Steiner Waldorf, and child developmental theorists like Emilio Reggio and Edward de Bono.

The establishment of the business was a family affair: Sarah Cressall and her husband, her sister, and her three young sons designed and tested activities and products.

The company registered with the British Franchise Association (BFA) and awarded the first franchise in 2007.

In the subsequent years, demand for these creative activities has continued to grow. The range on offer has grown as has the franchise network with in excess of 120 The Creation Station franchises in England and Scotland.

Product and service research and development is ongoing so that the franchise meets client’s growing and changing needs. An estimated 14,500 children and families take part in these experiences weekly.

The services offered by The Creation Station

The services and products offered by The Creation Station franchisees fall into three categories: classes, activities (parties and events), and products. All are geared at fun and creativity in a safe and caring environment.

 Classes: available for babies, toddlers, and pre-primary and primary school children. There are also classes for adults aged 18 and over, for families who want to get creative together, and even well-being activities offered in the care sector

 Events: include birthday parties and / or party packs for children, craft sessions for over 18’s, and shopping centre and corporate event entertainment

 Craft shop: sells arts and crafts supplies, sewing items, stationery, kits, gifts, fun arty boxes, wooden products, and busy boxes

How does a The Creation Station franchise work?

As a franchisee you can be flexible from the point at which you select the franchise type that suits you to the hours that you work. You will decide what classes and events you offer, how often, and when. You could do a great deal of work, however, as the demand is increasing and parents, carers, and organisations may lack the wherewithal to carry these activities out for themselves.

The types of The Creation Station franchises available

You can choose between the Standard Franchise and the Enhanced Franchise, and they provide different types of income streams:

 Standard Franchise: This enables you to provide a mix of weekly classes and party events for babies, children, teens, and adults. In each case, the parent, carer, or host will also be present

 Enhanced Franchise: With this option you can offer the same classes and services that a standard franchise involves, but you can also provide activities for children left with you by parents or carers. These include after-school, Saturday, and holiday clubs

Again, it depends on how much you want to do.

How to become a The Creation Station franchisee

The process is simple:

1. Request a free information pack by clicking the enquire button on this page

2. Book a discover chat by telephone or via the website after you’ve read the information pack so you can ask any questions you may have

3. Book a discovery event where you will meet and can chat to existing franchisees

If you decide that you and a The Creation Station franchise are right for each other, and the franchisor is also happy, the fine details, deposits, etc. can be finalised.

No. You do, however, need certain attributes and skills. Franchisees need to be passionate, energetic, hardworking, proactive, and want to nurture and make a difference. You need to love being around people – including babies and very young children – and a creative flair is also necessary.

Do I need to pay any monthly fees?

There is a monthly marketing and advertising levy of £30. With the Standard Franchise you will also pay £150 + VAT or 10 per cent of turnover (whichever is the greater) as the license fee. With the Enhanced Franchise the license fee is £200 + VAT or 10 per cent of turnover (whichever is the greater).

Is income guaranteed when running The Creation Station?

Income is not guaranteed as it depends on several factors including the amount and quality of work done by you as the franchisee.

However, given you would have strong branding, training, and support behind you, customers pay in advance, you can keep overheads low, and you have an exclusive territory it is very hard to imagine why a The Creation Station franchise would not bring in a good income.

Do I need to do my own marketing?

You may opt to circulate some of your leaflets, but the best way to generate business is word-of-mouth. Happy customers will bring your more business.
