The early years sensory experience franchise’s collaboration with the world’s largest aquarium group means babies will be able to take part in classes in a never-seen-before, water-based setting.

The specially created sessions, which immerse babies and parents in a world of underwater tranquillity, seek to extend the developmental benefits of both visual and sensory exploration in infants from birth to 13 months.

Based on the theory of bringing babies closer to water-based surroundings, the aquarium setting is expected to enhance the learning environment, as well as aid the development of early science skills, such as observation and discovery.

Dr Lin Day, a child development expert and founder of Baby Sensory, which is part of the WOW World Group, says: “The aquarium setting enhances early years learning and is the perfect platform to make new discoveries.

“From visual and sensory benefits to the vocabulary association with words, as well as the names of the various marine life, it really is a visual feast for young eyes.

“Early science skills come into play too when observing the different temperatures and environments these creatures are exposed to, from the icy Antarctic of penguins to the warm waters of the tropical ocean or the rainforest.”

Dr Day adds: “The aquarium setting is therapeutic, relaxing and calming, which makes it the perfect environment for babies with additional sensory needs.

“It inspires exploration and encourages them to express and release their emotions, which is really important for development.”

Baby Sensory, will be running special ‘Marine Week’ themed sessions from March 18.

Sea Life aquariums across the UK will also be partnering with WOW World Group to offer special one-off taster sessions for the different programmes hosted in its aquariums during this week.
