“There has never been a time like the present and we must all pull together to keep each other safe," says franchisee Keith Gallacher

Complete Weed Control, the Carluke-based ground maintenance and weed control specialist business, has emptied its Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) cupboard by donating 70 Tyvek protective coverall suits and a boxful of masks to four worthy local recipients.

The donations have gone to St Luke’s Medical Practice in Carluke, Medwyn Medical Practice in Carnwath, Care and Repair in Lanark, which helps older people and those with disabilities live independent lives, and the Brain Injury Rehabilitation Trust (BIRT) based in Springburn, Glasgow.

Keith Gallacher, director of Complete Weed Control operations in the south-east and south-west of Scotland, said: “There has never been a time like the present and we must all pull together to keep each other safe.

“The PPE equipment we use lets us undertake our important work with companies and local authorities throughout Scotland, but the pressing needs of health workers and those delivering vital services to vulnerable people must take priority now.”

Complete Weed Control provides grounds maintenance and weed control along highways, construction sites, parks and other public areas throughout the Central Belt.

Since taking over the franchise for south-west Scotland in 2006, Keith has focused on making Complete Weed Control Scotland’s leading experts in this area. While other businesses do what it does as an add-on to their bigger operations, it concentrates solely on the most effective and economical methods to achieve the best results.

Keith, who is currently working from home with his wife and two children, took over the Complete Weed Control franchise, covering the south-west of Scotland at the age of 19 and added the franchise for south-east Scotland five years later in 2011. In addition to weed control, the company also provides grounds maintenance, winter maintenance and tree-cutting services.
