The Essential Business Guide has won a Plain English Award. Voted for by the public, it’s the first time a business publication has taken such a prize.

Recognising the challenges of running her own businesses over the last 20 years, Julie Stanford created The Essential Business Guide to give business owners access to comprehensive yet easily understandable information to help them run their businesses more successfully.

Bringing together advice and case studies from both expert advisers and successful business owners, The Essential Business Guide was selected by judges because of the way it avoids ‘business speak’ and presents an enormous amount of information without being daunting.

According to Ben Beer from the Plain English Campaign: “Business is traditionally a sector which is filled with impenetrable jargon and complicated language which alienates customers and staff alike. The Essential Business Guide proves that it is possible to produce a comprehensive and useful guide to starting and running a business, without resorting to gobbledygook.

“Everyone involved in business should have access to clear information and expert advice, allowing them to concentrate on developing a successful company.”
