The UK’s original fried chicken brand continues its UK expansion
One of the UK’s fastest-growing fried chicken brands, Miss Millie’s, has announced that its next opening, its first of 2026, will be in Colchester, Essex.
Miss Millie’s is widely recognised as the UK’s original fried chicken store, and having launched a new look, new recipe and new growth strategy for 2025, the brand is now due to open its 14th restaurant this spring in Colchester.
Miss Millie’s started life in Bristol in 1988, and having built a loyal audience with multiple stores across the South West over almost four decades, it has begun to branch out across the UK, with openings across Newquay, Edinburgh, Southampton and most recently, Canterbury.
The new Colchester branch will be opening this spring at 10 High Street (CO1 1DA), a location previously occupied by KFC, and will be run by a new franchisee. The new store will be spread across two floors, with dine-in space for 60 diners as well as plenty of space for takeaway customers on the ground floor. Miss Millie’s will also be available across all major delivery services, including Uber Eats and Deliveroo.

Speaking about the upcoming Colchester opening, Miss Millie’s CEO, Andy Purnell, said, “We were thrilled to get such an incredible response to our first opening in the East of the UK in Canterbury last November, so it’s really exciting to be bringing the taste of Miss Millie’s to Essex with our latest Colchester launch. We can’t wait to bring the South West’s best-loved fried chicken to the South East!”
An official opening date will be announced soon.
