The popular fried chicken chain’s UK expansion continued in 2025
Miss Millie’s, widely recognised as the UK’s original fried chicken store, has opened its first ever restaurant in the east of the UK, in Canterbury city centre. The brand is currently the South West’s best-loved fried chicken shop and is expanding, with recent new openings in Edinburgh, Newquay and Southampton.
The Canterbury High Street location, the group’s 13th opening in the UK, opened its doors on Friday, 21 November, with a free-to-attend launch party that included free chicken tenders for the first 100 guests, taking place the day before.

Miss Millie’s, which opened its first store in Bristol in 1988, has built up a loyal customer base in the South-West over the last four decades, and is known for its Wings of Fire, tenders, burgers, wraps and shakes. The Canterbury opening was the first store in the country to open with the brand’s revamped look and improved menu offering.

Speaking about the Canterbury opening, Miss Millie’s CEO, Andy Purnell, said: “We’re really excited to be bringing the Miss Millie’s experience to the amazing city of Canterbury – especially as it’s our first opening on the east coast of the UK. This is a big university city, and we’re looking forward to making some new fans with the students in the town, as well as residents and visitors.”
