Musical Minis wins three iHubbub Best Home Business Awards

Children’s music and development franchise Musical Minis has won three national business awards.

The company, which offers music and singing classes to children aged from birth to five, took Best Family Business and Best Home-based Business, as well as being crowned Overall Winner in the 2016 iHubbub Best Home Business Awards.

Founded

Musical Minis was founded in 1989 by child psychologist Karen Sherr and franchised in 1997. There are now 12 franchisees in the network, running classes that enhance a child’s cognitive, physical and social development through the singing of traditional songs and nursery rhymes and the playing of basic musical instruments.

Franchisees run classes in government backed children’s centres, schools, nurseries and village venues. The classes are aligned to the national schools timetable and cater for approximately 1,500 children a week.

Karen says: “We are thrilled to have won Best Home-based Business and Best Family Business and to be named as the overall winner.

“Both awards perfectly encompass everything we think is great about Musical Minis. It is a business that lends itself perfectly to being run from home and fits in perfectly with family life.

“Many of our franchisees are mums with young children, all of whom say running their Musical Minis business around their young family works well. They don’t need huge amounts of storage space, can take their children with them to the classes and like the fact we’re always on the end of the phone if they need some extra support or advice.”

Ken Sheridan, co-founder of iHubbub, says: “Musical Minis impressed so many of our judges and for them to come out as the Best Home-based Business winner and to be voted the Best Family Business as well is a fantastic achievement.”
