Oven cleaning franchise pledges to offset most of network’s vehicle emissions through tree planting partnership

Oven Wizards has pledged to offset around 95 per cent of the franchise network’s vehicle carbon emissions by planting trees in the UK and protecting trees in the Amazon rainforest.

The oven cleaning specialist has been teamed up with Abbey Park Middle School in Pershore, Worcestershire for its first UK tree planting site.

The partnership has meant nearly 200 trees have been planted this year and further tree planting will be carried out each year.

For each tCO2e offset, one tree is planted in the UK and an additional tCO2e is offset through the Brazilian Amazon Verified Carbon Standard.

High levels of carbon in the atmosphere are damaging to our planet and trees are a natural counterbalancing force, absorbing carbon dioxide and producing oxygen in its place.

This helps reduce carbon levels in the air and in doing so improves the health of the planet and the humans that inhabit it.

Mark Abbott, Oven Wizards’ managing director, says: “We’re delighted to be taking the lead on this, not only in terms of oven cleaners, but the franchise sector as a whole.

“We’ve had our carbon footprint assessed and we have now taken the first steps towards becoming carbon neutral.”

Dr Wendy Buckley of Carbon Footprint, an organisation that provides online carbon footprint calculation tools and information to help reduce and offset emissions, says: “Oven Wizards have taken a market leading and responsible step to compensate for the unavoidable carbon emissions, helping to abate climate change and also supporting biodiversity, both here and in the Amazon rainforest.”
