The pizza franchise’s latest store has opened in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk and is run by franchisee Syead Anjum, who also owns a Papa John’s outlet in Norwich.

Syead explains: “I joined Papa John’s in 2013 from a rather different career in accountancy. My brother financed the first Norwich store and said ‘come and give it a try’. I was tempted.

“Running a Papa John’s is not like sitting at a desk in front of a computer all day - it’s much more practical.

“To learn the trade, I worked in store making pizzas and finding out about all aspects of the retail outlet. I enjoyed it so much I eventually took over managing the operation.”

Syead says he plans to open two more Papa John’s franchised stores.

“If I had to identify my ingredients for success, they would include hard work and having a great team,” he adds.

“I work full-time for the franchise and spend a lot of time in store.  This is motivating for staff and they respect that. It’s all about give and take and trust, as I rely on the people I work with every day.

“Being on the ground also means I can solve any issues quickly and ensure we continue to deliver on our ‘Better Ingredients. Better Pizza’  promise every time and build our reputation on quality.”

Papa John’s has opportunities for franchisees throughout the UK. Help is provided with location selection and opening of stores.
