Mobile storage franchise teamed up with Fresh Food for the Frontline to make thousands of deliveries

easyStorage has said it was “only right to support our frontline heroes” after the mobile storage franchise helped the Fresh Food for the Frontline initiative deliver thousands of food boxes to key workers in London and the south west during the COVID-19 crisis.

The project was co-founded by easyStorage CEO Tim Slesinger, Mark Hamilford and Rev Andy Buckler of St Barnabas Church, Kensington.

A total of 3,345 weekly shops were distributed to key workers in the capital, Slough and Swindon between March and July by volunteers using a fleet of 12 easyStorage vehicles.

easyStorage staff contributed 512 hours to the project, which benefited four hospitals and five care homes, as well as a significant number of vulnerable people.

The design of the easyStorage vans, which feature three compartments to house bespoke easyPods, made them ideal to transport up to 200 food boxes at a time.

While the project has concluded for now, the company has kept everything in place should frontline workers become overwhelmed by a second wave of COVID-19 and said it’s ready to restart if demand returns.

Tim says: “We felt it was only right to support our frontline heroes and keep them healthy by providing fresh fruit and vegetables.

“We hope that even if there is a second wave that health care providers and care homes are equipped to deal with it. However, we’re prepared to re-start the effort and roll it out nationally through the easyStorage network.”
