The following explains why FLHC is a leading brand in the US home care sector:

• The highest third party certified client satisfaction rate in the US home care industry (97.6 per cent)

• A caregiver retention rate of 86.2 per cent (as compared to the US industry average of only 30 per cent)
• A technology platform that provides both a career learning system for caregivers and online business management tools for the franchisee
• The exceptional caregiver retention rate enables the licensee to also offer a profitable staffing assistance service to subcontract to other elderly care and related facilities
• An executive team with over 250 years of experience in franchising and in-home care businesses, with advanced best practices and a passion for providing the highest level of service
• Certified dementia care training programmes

How much does a FirstLight® Home Care franchise cost?

There is an investment level of £385,000 for an exclusive country master franchise, to be paid upon signing of the master franchise agreement. The minimum investment is £500,000 for the exclusive country license and startup of the first two FirstLight® locations.

Unit opening fee: There is no fee for the first unit opened in the territory. There is a 30 per cent local unit franchise fee or a minimum of £2,500 for additional units opened and operated by the master franchisee, as well as for non-master franchisee-owned units.

The advertising fee is 1 per cent of the gross turnover of all units in the territory that is to be spent by the master franchisee in their territory, while there is a royalty fee of 6 per cent on company-owned units, while 30 per cent of the royalty charged to franchised units is paid to the franchisor.

A percentage of each unit franchise fee paid to the country master franchisee will be paid to the franchisor.

What are the expected earnings for a FirstLight® Home Care franchise?

FLHC territories are measured by the number of hours of care they provide per week. Per the most recent US Franchise Disclosure Document (2019 FDD), as of December 2018, the average number of hours per week was 650 for franchisees who had been trading for over 12 months ($847,000 in net annual revenue) and 908 hours per week for those who had been operating for three years or more ($1.55m in net annual revenue).

What is FirstLight® Home Care looking for in its franchisees?

FirstLight® Home Care is looking for compatible businesses such as retirement or nursing home chains, elderly daycare centres, producers of mobility equipment for the elderly or pharmacies who can add home care services to their existing line of related business to further expand their customer base.

What support and training do FirstLight® Home Care franchisees receive?

An in-depth US Discovery Day programme includes two days of presentations by senior FLHC executives about all aspects of the franchise system. Once an agreement is signed, there will be a two-week intensive classroom and on-the-job training in the US for master franchisee staff who will be involved with opening, managing, operating and franchising the units in the territory.

Travel related costs will be paid by the licensee. Initial in-country unit start-up training provided, with staff costs and travel charged to the master franchisee at cost. An extensive ongoing online training programme is available for caregivers and office staff.

Why is FirstLight® Home Care a good investment?

As a FirstLight® master franchise owner, you will benefit from highly developed and proven operational methods, extensive and ongoing training and support, advanced marketing and technology systems and in-depth personal attention and advice which will provide you with a decisive advantage.

The home care sector continues to expand in the United Kingdom due to the ageing population, and the trend is for greater amounts of public and private resources to be dedicated to this sector to minimise the costs of placing people into retirement or nursing home facilities and institutions. Home care is often preferable to a nursing home or assisted living care as the person receiving care remains in their own home where they are most comfortable while receiving professional care.

The United States has the world’s most competitive home care franchise sector, and the strong growth rate and exceptional competitiveness of the FirstLight® business system demonstrates the tremendous potential for FirstLight® in the UK market.

FirstLight® founder and president, Jeff Bevis, and his senior executive team have over 250 years of experience in the franchise sector, with more than 125 years of experience specifically in the home care franchising business. They have created a best practices version of home care that has resulted in the opening of 254 units in only eight years.

FirstLight® leads the industry in the US in terms of customer and franchisee satisfaction, and its extraordinarily high caregiver retention rate makes FLHC exceptionally competitive. That expertise will be transferred to the exclusive United Kingdom FirstLight® country master franchisee, facilitating the success of this outstanding brand in the UK market.
