How many years have you owned a Monkey Music franchise?
What is your career background?
Richard – Full Time Cathedral Musician (both organist and conductor).
Flick – Early year’s teacher, with a Montessori training, and a Monkey Music Teacher for the last 10 years.
How did you first hear about Monkey Music and the franchise opportunities available?
Looking into teaching opportunities having taken a career break to enjoy time with our children, I discovered the perfect match for my love of music and desire to return to the world of education. Having then taught Monkey Music for over 8 years, the opportunity to take the next step and have my own franchise was a great chance to extend what I already knew to be a great brand. This tied in perfectly with a change of direction for Richard’s career, and our family move to Oxfordshire.
How often do you work?
Richard – 5 days a week, and emails are being checked daily.
Flick – 5 days a week, teaching 4 mornings/afternoons and administration at other times.
How does the job fit around your family life?
We are able to see our children’s special school moments, as well as family events because there is good flexibility enabling us to try and do it all!
What aspects of your ongoing support and training do you value most?
A comprehensive knowledge base of tried and tested methods of all aspects of the business, which has been developed over 21 years and is constantly being updated. Also the knowledge that any query always has a full and speedy response from a member of the HQ team with expertise in their area.
How many classes do you curently run?
21 classes each week in term time.
What is the best thing about Monkey Music for you?
A fantastic curriculum which speaks for itself – just ask our customers!
Are there any downsides to the job?
Yes – its hard to switch off as its your own business!
What are your Monkey Music highlights so far?
Reaching customer figure targets ahead of time, and beginning to grow our business within 6 months. Plus the lovely feedback we sometimes get from our customers both in person and by email.
