Hey Baby wants to deliver a superior ultrasound experience for expectant parents across the country

I paid for a private scan when I was pregnant. It felt rushed, the staff were rude and all they were interested in was taking my money and getting rid of me.” Said no Hey Baby customer ever!

Established in 2015, Hey Baby 4D quickly became the private ultrasound clinic of choice for expectant parents across Derbyshire and South West Nottingham.

Following a complete overhaul of the business, service, premises and brand, the Hey Baby franchise was launched in February 2018.

With longer appointment times, friendly, qualified staff and affordable services, this customer centric brand has been the talking point of expectant parents in all its locations to date. But that’s not enough.

The company wants to deliver a superior ultrasound experience for expectant parents across the country. And why not? Pregnancy is a special time of any parent’s life. Helping to create wonderful memories of this experience is a job Hey Baby takes very seriously.

The principle behind this business is a simple one: to provide expectant parents with a professional, friendly, safe environment to meet their baby for the first time and make it magical. Then do it better next time. And even better the time after that.

With 30 exclusive territories currently available across the UK, now is the time to join this business and become part of the positive change that is happening within the private ultrasound industry.

What’s involved?

While Hey Baby loves to encourage fun within its clinics, this is a medical business and running a clinic is a serious job. Ensuring the safety and well-being of customers and their babies is the number one priority of all Hey Baby clinics.

The company’s franchise team will help you with every element of opening and running your own clinic, from finding the right premises to sourcing equipment, furniture and all necessary services, as well as hiring your team. Technical support is provided throughout, ensuring your clinical setup is working smoothly and effectively.

The CQC governs all healthcare facilities in England, including private ultrasound clinics. Hey Baby will guide you through the registration process, providing you with the necessary policies, procedures and training required to meet the regulations.

What’s included in the franchise?

Everything you need. Hey Baby is all about being different and its franchise model is no exception. Its franchisees come from different professional backgrounds and bring a variety of skills and knowledge to the business. So a one-size-fits-all approach really wouldn’t work for them. Hey Baby fills the gaps in your knowledge and experience with its own.

Hey Baby has spent most of 2018 refining the business, which has involved the creation and development of a new website and integrated, custom built booking system.

Each franchisee has their own website, allowing them the flexibility to set their own pricing and to personalise the site for their local demographic.

This has been revolutionary for the business, attracting a significant number of client bookings online and freeing up time within each clinic to focus on making the service memorable for customers.

Hey Baby’s booking system also provides each franchisee with useful management information to assist them with the running of their clinic, which enables Hey Baby to identify if something is or isn’t working and to adjust the business plan accordingly.

Monthly franchise reviews provide guidance and advice to push each clinic in the right direction, both from a service and financial perspective.

The CQC inspects healthcare services on an ad hoc basis to ensure they’re working to the required standards. Hey Baby franchisees receive support and guidance through these inspections, as well as ad hoc support wherever needed.

Nikki Senior, managing director of Hey Baby Franchises, says: “We aren’t just building a business, we’re building a family of like-minded professionals who strive to be the best in their industry.

“Our founding franchisees are an incredible bunch - we are truly blessed to have such a fantastic team. Our business is all about people - teeny, tiny ones sometimes, but people all the same - so bringing the right people into the brand is a huge priority for us.”

The financials

The initial franchise fee is £15,000 (plus VAT). This secures your territory, your own Hey Baby website and booking system and all required policies, procedures and business templates.

You will receive full support through the CQC registration process and access to exclusive discounts in the Hey Baby supplier directory, as well as ongoing support with everything from finding the right premises to sourcing personnel.

In addition to the above, you will need to invest a further £10,000- £20,000 to cover your other set-up costs.

Hey Baby franchisees can expect to earn between £3,000 and 10,000 per month, which varies depending on location, opening hours and overhead base.

What does hey baby look for in a franchisee?

Contrary to popular belief, you don’t need to be from a medical background to succeed in this business.

It’s helpful to have experience in either running a business, management, customer services or sales and marketing, and if you’re a medical professional then this is the perfect business for you - especially if you’re a sonographer.

Hey Baby looks for people who are passionate about pregnancy, babies and exceptional customer service.

There is a lot of information to absorb before you can run your own clinic, so you need to be willing to learn. In addition, the company looks for great communicators who have strong leadership abilities and are aligned with Hey Baby’s moral standards.
