Rassam’s Creamery knows a thing or two about sweet treats. You will be in good company with this franchise as the owner, Rassam, has been in this line of work since the age of 14 and there’s very little he does not know about the dessert business.

From a very early age, Rassam helped his father in the family grocery business, eventually taking it over himself. With an appetite to try new things for business growth, Rassam saw an overseas milkshake bar and it gave him the idea to try this for himself in the UK.

Starting with only a blender and ice cream, and trialling for a matter of weeks, it soon became clear that this was a dessert shop in demand and a very profitable one too.

Fast forward many years later, and now at five stores (with more on the way), Rassam’s Creamery was initially created in Sheffield, which soon moved on to become three individual sites due to popular demand for the delicious food.

The flagship site recently opened in Wakefield city centre. The store quickly became busy and it has consistently grown since the start. Opened during the height of the pandemic, the brand has shown how resilient this type of business really is.

Children love the look and feel, families too enjoy a day out, whether they want a lunchtime treat or evening experience, Rassam’s Creamery can offer all from one very impressive, bright, colourful and inviting location.

How did the Rassam’s Creamery brand start?

Rassam leased a retail unit with tools and machinery to begin his journey in the dessert industry. This was the beginning of the creation of the empire you see today. In June 2012, with the help of his friends (Irfan Mohammed and Alawi Alyazidi), Rassam opened his very first dessert bar/ ice cream parlour in Darnall in Sheffield, which attracted a large variety of customers eager to try these new creations that Rassam was offering. 

Many changes have been implemented since then, ranging from different designs to new delicious ice cream creations. Rassam was seen to be somewhat of a perfectionist and it wouldn’t stop there. Profiting from his success, he went on to further things, opening new businesses in different fields. 

Rassam’s greatest achievement came when he opened his second branch on London Road in January 2015. This was a whole new chapter in his career. A move to a new location which was more upmarket meant a different variety of clientele. Indoor seating and eating meant greater changes and improvements. Perfection was now a key aspect of the trade, which meant improvements of recipes and designs were essential and resulted in attracting even more customers. 

How many Rassam’s Creamery locations are there?

Due to high demand, a second bigger location was needed. The surge in customers was unreal. This led to the young entrepreneur opting for an even bigger location. A plan was made for an improved Rassam’s Creamery. Rassam’s dream of opening the UK’s largest dessert bar was now a reality. 

One day, he spotted a gym across the road from his business that had recently shut down. Rassam rushed into action, and even though it was a big risk considering the size of the place, he still went for it. After eight months in 2017, the UK’s biggest dessert parlour was then opened. The huge achievement couldn’t be achieved without Rassam’s focus and ambition - but it still doesn’t stop there.
