About PVC Vendo

What is PVC Vendo and what services does it provide?

This company provides 24/7 interior and exterior commercial vehicle cleaning services to a wide range of businesses and organisations. Founded in 1981 in London, current customers include DHL, XPO and Wincanton.

Originally, PVC Vendo (PVC stands for professional vehicle cleaning) sold commercial cleaning equipment only, before spotting a gap in the market for an effective portable vehicle washing service. Such was the demand for this service, that a decision was made to franchise the concept in 1988.

The company’s first franchisee opened for business in January 1989. Today, PVC Vendo has 36 franchisees in England and Wales.

Darren Taylor, a former multi unit franchisee, purchased the business in December 2018. PVC Vendo is now part of Taylor Made Franchising, which also owns the StumpBusters and Wilkins Chimney Sweep brands.

The company recently introduced a specialist service called Sani Clean in response to the COVID-19 outbreak in the UK. According to PVC Vendo, it is a trade only product that when applied to the interior of a vehicle kills the COVID-19 virus immediately.

Darren says: “Clients are really appreciating the new service. When a company has a confirmed case of the virus among staff, they naturally want to get the vehicle sanitised as soon as possible for staff safety and so they can get it back on the road with as little downtime as possible.”

PVC Vendo is a full member of the British Franchise Association. It is also a member of the Road Haulage Association.

How does the PVC Vendo franchise model work?

This franchise can be run from home and requires the franchisee to use PVC Vendo’s water waste disposal system and eco-friendly cleaning products to clean customer vehicles on a regular basis, as well as administer, promote and develop their business in line with pre-agreed financial targets.

Tried and tested systems are provided to carry out these tasks in an efficient manner. Franchisees have access to PVC Vendo’s bespoke ProWash software, which allows them to record the details of each vehicle that has been cleaned and let the customer know when the job is complete.

How much does a PVC Vendo franchise cost?

It costs £17,500 (plus VAT) in total to start a PVC Vendo franchise. No ongoing management or marketing fees are charged by the franchisor.

Can PVC Vendo help me with funding the franchise?

Yes. The company says it can help prospective franchisees secure up to 75 per cent of the funding needed to start the business via its finance partners, subject to status.

What training and support do PVC Vendo franchisees receive?

Comprehensive training and support are provided covering everything you need to know about running a successful PVC Vendo franchise.

In addition, franchisees are assisted with the promotion of their business during the launch phase. The bookkeeping system used by PVC Vendo franchisees also comes with an extensive package of support.

The company’s head office team produce all franchisee invoices and manage their credit control and cash collection. On top of this, PVC Vendo underwrites any debts incurred by members of its franchisee network.

What else does a PVC Vendo franchisee get for their investment?

Business insurance for their first year of trading, a deposit for asset finance on a liveried vehicle and an initial supply of cleaning chemicals, materials, tools, equipment and protective clothing.

What experience and skills do I need to become a PVC Vendo franchisee?

No experience of the commercial vehicle cleaning sector is required, as full training is provided by the franchisor.

However, franchisees must be physically fit, well organised, ambitious and hard working.

What is the earnings potential of a PVC Vendo franchise?

The company says a franchisee who commits sufficient time to their business and follows the tried and system methods of operation set out by the franchisor can turn over £47,175 in their first year of trading. Overheads are estimated at £22,471.40, leaving a net profit of £24,703.60 for the period.

Year two and three figures are as follows:

• Year two. Turnover: £59,000. Overheads: £24,034.30. Net profit: £34,965.70.

• Year three. Turnover: £76,000. Overheads: £30,959.40. Net profit: £45,040.60.

These figures are examples of potential financial performance only, not a guarantee of earnings. They are based on the average earnings that have been achieved by a VAT registered, single-unit franchisee operating from one van and using one cleaning machine.

It is advised that a prospective franchisee has a suitably qualified accountant check any financial information provided by a franchisor about its opportunity to ensure its veracity.

Why is a PVC Vendo franchise a good investment?

Investors buy into a proven business model that has been developed over four decades and proven to work successfully in many different regions of the UK.

You can run a PVC Vendo franchise from home, meaning overheads will be lower than if you operated from commercial premises. This in turn means potential profits are maximised.

The service offered by PVC Vendo is a necessity for companies that run large fleets of vehicles and franchisees who provide an efficient, reliable service benefit from regular, repeat custom.

What are the PVC Vendo franchise’s terms of agreement and renewal?

The initial franchise agreement lasts for five years, which is renewable at no cost once this period of time is up, subject to agreement between the franchisee and franchisor.

What locations or territories is PVC Vendo looking to operate in?

The company has franchise opportunities available throughout the UK.

Where in the UK is the PVC Vendo franchise based?

The company’s headquarters are in Wembley, London.

How environmentally friendly is the service provided by PVC Vendo?

This company states it is committed to upholding the highest environmental standards in all areas of its business.

Every cleaning product used by PVC Vendo is 100 per cent biodegradable, while in order to operate franchisees must be in possession of a valid waste carriers licence, which is issued by the Environment Agency, and a consent to discharge trade effluent certificate.

Any liquid waste material generated by the cleaning process is removed from the customer’s premises by the franchisee in sealed containers. The effluent is then collected by the franchisor and disposed of at company headquarters in Wembley in accordance with guidelines set out by Thames Water.
