Will a franchise solicitor evaluate a franchise for me?
A franchise solicitor will be one of the key sources of advice for a prospective franchisee, in addition to your bank and accountant. However, none of these will be able to evaluate all of the commercial aspects of a franchise for you. The solicitor’s role will be limited to advising on the legal aspects of entering into the franchise, such as any confidentiality agreements and leases, as well as the terms of the franchise agreement itself. However, a franchise solicitor will have a general understanding of the commercial aspects of franchising, and should be able to give you general advice on the sort of information you may wish to try and obtain in order to get a better understanding of whether or not a particular franchise concept is likely to be a success for you.
