BRITAINS TOP FRANCHISEES REVEALED

Keith Ellwood of Autosmart in Edinburgh has been crowned Franchisee of the Year Gold Award Winner at the 2012 British Franchise Association HSBC Franchisee of the Year Awards.

The judges said they were impressed with Keith’s determination and passion for his vehicle cleaning products business, which has gone from strength to strength over the past 15 years.

In the last 12 months Keith has implemented innovative new systems to boost productivity, including investing in a new onboard computer system, a larger showroom and new payment methods.

“Winning this award and receiving the recognition from the industry is a fantastic feeling,” he says.

“I love running my franchise, servicing customers throughout the automotive sector. I’m looking forward to building on this success, continuing to offer great customer service and driving my business still further forward.”

The Silver Award Winner was Ron Mounsey of McDonald’s Restaurants (Swansea), while Eve Kay, Jo Jingles (Frodsham, Cheshire), took the Bronze Award.

“This year’s finalists have clearly demonstrated a passion for their business,” says Cathryn Hayes, head of franchising at HSBC.

“Support from their franchisor and other franchisees in their network means they are not in business alone, which has allowed them to focus on delivering excellent customer service, a common thread running through their stories.

“Keith Ellwood demonstrated how tenacious customer relationship management can help shape business growth.

“His enthusiasm for his business is clear and his work over the past 12 months has propelled his business towards a phenomenal future.”

Brian Smart, director general of the British Franchise Association, adds: “Each year we are captivated by the stories that are showcased by franchisees.
