Gold’s Gym first UK franchisee

Gold’s Gym has signed a lease for its first fully-franchised operation in the UK.

The ABM Group, a consortium of west London businessmen, has taken a Gold’s Gym franchise and has secured a prime 30,000 sq ft site in London’s Park Royal. The gym will open for business later this year.

“This marks our entry to the UK market with our full franchise programme,” says Gold’s managing director of International Franchising, Luis Campalans. “The Park Royal site will be a signature location for our brand.”

The ABM Group is the first of 10 UK franchisees coming on stream in the next 18 months that have signed up to a full Gold’s franchise.

“We are local businessmen and were looking for something that would help change the lives of people who lived in the area - Gold’s ticked all the boxes,” says ABM managing director, Sunil Masson.

“Key to our decision was the support Gold’s provides and the relationship it has with its franchisees. Gold’s Gym is a very powerful brand, but it’s also like a big happy family. We wanted to be part of that. This is our first Gold’s Gym, we aim to grow our business and open as many sites as we can.”
