David Overton has a unique understanding of what franchisees need having been an Optic-Kleer franchisee before becoming the managing director of the brand. His focus as franchisor has always been to deliver the complete package for all franchisees. The most recent development is an exciting new accredited franchisee training programme.
David has worked alongside Sean Hayes, operations manager at GQA Qualifications, to create an industry-leading training programme for Optic-Kleer franchisees. GQA Qualifications is an awarding organisation for specialist sectors and occupational roles. Their current qualifications include the glass, construction, nuclear and print industries.
David and Sean met when both were part of the committee for the review and revision of the British Standards for windscreen repairs. It was because of this meeting they made the decision to join forces to drive forward standards through the introduction of an accredited training programme for Optic-Kleer franchisees, helping them to further their knowledge and skills to enhance the customer experience. After delays due to the pandemic and business restrictions, their work on the programme is complete. Sean recently visited Optic-Kleer HQ to carry out the formal approval process, where he observed the finalised training course delivered by John Speare, an experienced franchisee of 10 years.
“At GQA we have worked alongside David and John to come up with the new structure of the Optic-Kleer training to align with the British Standards. The training now takes the form of an accredited programme. Optic-Kleer franchisees come from different industry backgrounds and the training has now been developed so that new recruits will undertake quality-assured training and assessment against the British Standard and Optic-Kleer’s own exacting procedures,” said Sean.
“Being involved with the British Standards for windscreen repair is something I take pride in. Working with Sean and GQA to develop the Optic-Kleer training programme has been a fantastic step forward for us. Our business is now perfectly placed to lead the charge in ensuring the whole industry is up to our high standards,” added David.
