TaxAssist Dunstable welcomes new owner

Dave Masterson passes the reins of the branch over to Umer Farooq, a franchisee with over five years of experience

After 12 years as a successful TaxAssist Accountants franchisee, Dave Masterson has realised his investment following a franchise resale to neighbouring franchisee Umer Farooq.

“I’ve really enjoyed running my own practice and the role I’ve played in helping many businesses in the local area and the relationships that I’ve built up,” says Dave. “I’m now happy to be handing over to Umer, who is an experienced accountant and has been with TaxAssist Accountants since 2017, so my clients are in good hands. My thanks go to my staff and the TaxAssist team for their help and support over the years.”

For Umer, purchasing a practice has always been part of his expansion plans. He says: “Having built up my own practice in Luton I know that our services are in demand, and clients love the TaxAssist brand and way of working. Purchasing Dave’s practice made perfect sense. We are now a team of eight, operating from three shopfronts and an office with 530 clients, so I’ve come a long way in my five and a half years as a TaxAssist franchisee.

“We’re experiencing a busy January, and I’m pleased that Dave has agreed to stay on to assist in a hand over period to ensure that all tax returns are completed! Going forward, our target is to continue growing, with the ultimate goal of reaching 1,000 clients in the next five years.
