One of the most popular management business opportunities in 2012, Betterclean Services was chosen as the investment of choice by eight white collar professionals from across the UK
Developed on the solid foundations of a recession resistant service and boasting a 96 per cent customer retention rate, Betterclean, a multi-million pound, multi-territory scalable business, is clearly a smart investment.
One of the biggest attractions has been the profit margins achievable, which are among the highest in the sector.
“I am approaching my second year and have been delighted with my investment,” says Wynne Hughes of Betterclean Services Swansea. “The latest marketing campaigns have been excellent at generating new appointments, which have lead to new contracts. Dan, Mike and the team are great, very supportive and continually testing and proving new ideas to roll out for our benefit. This opportunity really is as good as it sounds.”
Betterclean’s most successful franchise owners have senior management backgrounds and a desire to ‘work on’ building their own businesses.
Franchise owners do not ‘work in’ their businesses, instead they employ a supervisor to manage their cleaners, audit the work and keep on top of stock and cleaning equipment.
Managing director Dan van Kuyk is a former franchisee and uses his experience, along with an organised and highly professional approach, to lead the Betterclean Services franchise owner support team.
“I purposely designed the Betterclean franchise opportunity to allow franchise owners to be a business owner and not a salesperson or manager,” says Dan. “There are a lot of franchise opportunities in the marketplace that will find the work for you, but then all you are doing is managing the business, not owning it and growing it yourself.”
Betterclean’s franchise owners come from a range of backgrounds, including high flying City jobs, company directors, senior professionals and small business owners. The company now has franchise owners across the UK - from Scotland and the north of England to Wales, the south west, London, the east and the south east. Each territory is scientifically calculated to have the same £1 million potential as the template business model and each franchise owner is given the systems, support and ongoing guidance to replicate this success. Of course, their motivation, attitude and commercial skills will affect the speed with which they progress and the scale they achieve for their Betterclean Services business.
As one of the most comprehensive and best value management franchises on the market today, Betterclean Services has British Franchise Association accreditation, confirming the business model has been developed following best practice thinking.
You will need a total of £45,000 (plus VAT) to start a Betterclean Services business. Successful candidates will generally come from a senior management background, have excellent English language skills, commercial awareness and be good communicators.
SYLVIE LEAVES LONDON FOR A BETTER LIFE IN BRIGHTON
After 10 years working as a financial controller in a number of London-based international businesses, Sylvie Botquelen sought a new opportunity that would enable her to relocate to the south coast, find a better work-life balance and return to working in a small business environment.
She says: “I read about Betterclean Services and I thought, ‘That looks interesting’. To find out more I visited the Betterclean Services website. I looked at some other opportunities, but not in the same depth because nothing really grabbed me.
“The majority I came across were like buying a job, rather than investing in a new business opportunity. They were all heavily focused on selling and very product based, which wasn’t what I was after. I’d have to say the Betterclean Services franchise opportunity stacks up well when compared to others I investigated.”
Why did she choose to invest in a franchise, rather than start her own business from scratch? Sylvie explains: “I liked the idea of having my hand held a little bit to prevent me from making mistakes, while having the freedom to run my own business.
“I have experience of running businesses, but never my own, so running a franchise allows me to benefit from someone else’s knowledge, experience and support. I know it will take a lot of hard work, but investing in a successful business model reduces risk. I like the fact that I’ll be involved in overseeing all aspects of my business - that’s very appealing.”
Sylvie has sold her home in east London and is relocating to Brighton. In her leisure time she enjoys snowboarding and scuba diving, as well as getting out on her beloved Triumph Tiger 800 motorbike.
“I suppose I haven’t quite grown up yet,” she says. “I’m looking forward to the challenges of living in a new place and starting a new business. As well as hopefully improving the quality of my life and my work-life balance, I’m relishing the opportunity of returning to work in a small business environment - that’s where I feel most at home - and where I’ll get the chance to do a bit of everything, which I prefer.
“I plan to get established as quickly and successfully as I can and then work hard to grow the business, possibly take on staff at some point and then, long term, look to take on another territory.
“That’s one of the great things about the Betterclean Services business model - residual income. You don’t have to go out there every month looking for new customers, you’re able to retain customers, attract more and build your business into a much bigger and more successful venture.”
