Legacy Sport is a not-for-profit organisation founded in 2011 by partners Shaun Fox, Jonny Nolan, and Anthony Wood, with the aim to promote healthy and active lifestyles to youngsters, by providing sports, health and PE programmes in schools. Essentially, Legacy Sport provides in-school PE assistance. These are specifically targeted at delivering a positive impact on school and community settings, with a business model striving to have maximum social impact.

Legacy Sport was founded after frightening Public Health England figures showed that 20 per cent of 4 to 5-year-old children in the UK and 33 per cent of 10 to 11-year-old children were overweight or obese.

Legacy Sport aims to encourage physical activity by removing all barriers and promoting healthy eating. It also works with teachers and schools in order to help promote PE and sustainability. Legacy Sport collects data and monitors the school’s progress in order to demonstrate the impact and value of PE and sports. With tools such as its innovative Sporting Age platform, franchisees help schools meet their OFSTED criteria while ensuring schools are benefiting as much as possible from the available sport premium funding.

The first Legacy Sport franchise was opened in 2018, launched by Bradford-based franchise agents Lime Licensing Group.

How does a Legacy Sport franchise work?

As a Legacy Sport franchisee, your aim is to promote a healthy lifestyle and physical activity to schools and young people, so a lot of your work will have to do with talking to schools, and finding the best ways to provide PE assistance and promote healthy eating and living in a sustainable way.

As a Legacy Sport franchisee, your day-to-day will involve reaching out to schools in your area and working with them and their students in order to improve their students’ performance in PE and sports. By helping schools fulfil all the OFSTED physical education requirements, you will maximise their chances of receiving government funding, and help them make the best use of the funds they have available. Part of your job will also be working with teachers by providing them with your advanced skills and instructors who will work with them to increase their confidence and knowledge in sports and PE. These instructors, hand-picked by dedicated Legacy Sport managers and PE consultants, will work with teachers to empower and upskill them to promote a self-sustainable model of high standards and healthy lifestyles. Instructors will also track progress and monitor data to then demonstrate the impact of this funding on the schools and students.

How much does a Legacy Sport franchise cost?

You will need an initial investment of £6,995 in order to start your Legacy Sport franchise.

As you will be working from home, there are very low overheads. As you will be working with schools, very often, your contracts will be long-term, often over a year, giving you the security of income and above average returns.
