Anytime Fitness reaches 200,000 members for 2024

The gym franchise says its member base has led to a million club visits per month for Q1

Anytime Fitness’ recent franchise expansion across the UK has led to 200,000 gym members and one million club visits for the start of 2024.

The brand announced that average member yield has increased by 4% while recent growth has also contributed to an 8.3% increase in revenue for Q1, compared to the same period in 2023.

Currently, Anytime Fitness has 185 clubs in operation and is aiming to sell 25 new franchise licences in 2024, with recent additions including its Brixton location.

The UK has been a vital region for the brand as it aims to establish itself across the European market; 50% of Q1 franchise sales in Europe were attributed to the UK.

“2024 has been our strongest start to the year for some time, with key metrics from both the consumer and franchising sides of the business showing real growth,” confirmed Andy Thompson, chairman of Anytime Fitness UK.

“We’ve been working hard to get an even stronger understanding of our members and how we engage them, investing in our tech infrastructure and systems, as well as making sure we’ve got the right people in place to support the business moving forwards – these are all critical factors that have contributed to a stronger performance across the network.”

Growth has been heavily bolstered by new initiatives which include using a data-driven approach to identify strategic locations for potential club openings.

Meanwhile, existing franchisees have been equipped with a redesign which includes a full change of club interiors and layouts prioritising large functional training areas.

Thompson added: “Our sector isn’t without its challenges, but we’re receiving positive levels of interest in franchising and the projected growth makes for an exciting year ahead.”
