Female franchise award winners announced

Teresa Bowers of the Wagging Tails home dog boarding franchise has won the Encouraging Women into Franchising Woman Franchisee of the Year award.

Other awards went to Karen Burdett of TruGreen (New Woman Franchisee of the Year); Ginny Murphy of The Wheel Specialist (Woman Franchisor of the Year); and Cath Harrop of mum2mum market (New Woman Franchisor of the Year).

A special award for ‘Outstanding Contribution’ was given to Pam Bader OBE, founder of cleaning franchise Molly Maid.

EWIF is a not for profit organisation that aims to encourage women to buy one of the many franchise opportunities in the UK, franchise their existing business or help existing franchise operations attract more female franchisees.

‘The finalists and winners are testament to the fact that although there may not be as many women in franchising as there should be, the ones we have are hugely talented and are tremendous role models for anyone thinking of joining our industry in 2013,” says Louise Bruce, co chair of EWIF.

“It is a well documented fact that women are under-represented in franchising in the UK and our job at EWIF is to encourage more women to consider buying a franchise as a business, expand their existing business through franchising and help franchisors redress any gender imbalances in their organisations.”
