Encouraging Women into Franchising is reflecting on a successful year and looking forward to 2017
As the end of the year approaches, Encouraging Women into Franchising is reflecting on a great 2016. In May EWIF’s awards ceremony proved more popular than ever. It had a record number of entries and the organisation was astounded by the quality of the applications and how many successful women there are in the franchise industry.
By recognising the achievements of so many women within their businesses, EWIF helps to encourage more women into the franchise industry. The awards provide a great fillip for franchisors, franchisees and employees alike. It boosts their brands and gives them an extra accolade to help promote their businesses.
National conference
In September, EWIF rounded off its events calendar with its national conference. By attending events such as this, members are able to network with some of the biggest brands in the franchise industry.
Many businesses grow through networking and gaining advice from those business owners who are experiencing exactly the same challenges.
Clive Sawyer, CEO of EWIF, says: “We’ve had a great year and I’m so proud of every one of our members.
“We’ve had some inspirational speakers at both the awards and conference this year, which I hope gave everyone something to think about. It’s always great to see so many of our members in one room sharing their ideas and advice.
“Our aim at EWIF is to make an impact in the sector and encourage as many women as possible to franchise their businesses or buy a franchise and give them the support they need.
“The figures for women in franchising don’t seem to have improved, but when I look at our members I’m surprised because they’re all determined to succeed and help others whenever they can.”
Awards ceremony
EWIF is now looking forward to its 2017 awards ceremony. The entry process will start soon. Here’s what a few of the winners had to say this year:
Jenni Dunham from Daisy First Aid, winner of the New Woman Franchisor of the Year Award, sponsored by Darwin Gray Solicitors, says: “When you run a business, you rarely have time to sit back and look at what you’ve achieved because you’re too busy moving forwards.
“I’m absolutely delighted our hard work has been recognised and I’m extremely proud of the success of every Daisy First Aid franchisee.”
Sara Harrison from Angela’s Swim School, winner of the New Women Franchisee of the Year Award, sponsored by NatWest, says: “My story and success is a classic example of the benefits a franchise can offer someone embarking on a new career.
“Following a proven model with franchise business support meant I could focus on the day-to-day tasks and focus on my customer’s needs.”
EWIF’s primary focus is to support women who are looking for a route into the franchise industry. Its remit is threefold - to encourage women to consider buying a franchise, to encourage businesswomen to franchise their existing operations and to help franchisors attract more women to their networks.
EWIF is a not-for-profit organisation run entirely by volunteers, providing advice and guidance to anyone looking at trying to break into the franchise industry.
