What does the franchise package usually consist of?
The franchise package should include all of the elements necessary to allow a previously untrained person to be able to run that franchise business. The actual specifics of what a franchisee will receive as part of the franchise package will depend from franchise to franchise, but there are some standard elements that a new franchisee could reasonably expect. These include: A franchise agreement that complies with the requirements of ethical franchising. Use of the franchisor’s trademark/trade name and intellectual property, including any know how, business and technical methods and procedural systems that are involved in running the business. Initial training, including training on how to use the franchise system and how to run the business. A copy of the ‘operations manual’, which details how to operate the business. This tends to be a more practical rather than legal document. Ongoing training and support throughout the term of the franchise agreement. The package may also include equipment that is necessary to begin operating the business, such as opening stock or, if the franchise is a mobile business, the franchisor may assist with the sourcing of a vehicle.
