About Little Learners

As a Reception teacher I knew that children could arrive in school without the motor skills necessary to hold a pencil and write/make marks. I could see a need for a preschool class that encouraged mark making through fun and messy activities. I utilised my knowledge to create a writing programme which included four cute ‘mark maker’ characters and could be delivered in a fun and relaxed preschool class.  I also produced a companion book so parents/carers could continue learning activities at home. I trialled the classes locally and, following a period of feedback, assessment and refinement, Little Learners was born! Demand for the local classes quickly outstripped supply and after careful evaluation of costs and the potential for earnings, I could see franchising was the way forward. My overarching aim was to provide valuable, educational classes that contribute to raising achievement and for Little Learners to become one of the front runners in the mother and baby class industry. I wanted classes, parties and events to be offered around the country and for us to work in partnership with schools and other early years settings. I also wanted to provide an opportunity for others to run their own satisfying and family-friendly business.
