GrowthAccelerator, the national business advice specialist, has ranked the top 10 regions in the UK for business growth, based on the take up of its services.
Far from the UK’s fastest expanding companies taking a London centric approach, further epicentres of growth are emerging across the country, with County Durham, Brighton and Hove and Bristol all making GrowthAccelerator’s top 10.
And while business services accounts for the largest number of high growth companies considered as part of the analysis, the new research shows distinct sector specialisms forming in different geographical centres.
In Birmingham there is a strong trend for high growth companies to hail from the software sector, in marked contrast to County Durham, where food and drink companies are registering significant growth.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, London registers a higher concentration of media companies, as does Manchester, which has recently become home to the BBC.
And while ambitious manufacturing companies are located most densely across the north in Sheffield, Leeds and Manchester, there are also a high proportion of businesses in this sector going for growth in Bristol.
Brighton and Hove has emerged as a popular location for ambitious education and design sector businesses.
