Predominantly a rural county, Roxburghshire borders the English counties of Cumberland and Northumberland. Its main settlements are the towns of Melrose, Kelso, Jedburgh and Hawick. The largest of the Border towns with a population of 14,000, Hawick is synonymous with the production of luxury cashmere and merino wool knitwear. It’s also home to the Borders Distillery.
